James Vance
VP, Technical Services
Prior to joining Clearway, then NRG, in 2016, James led the North American solar due diligence practice at the independent engineering firm DNV. James has worked in the renewable energy industry for over 16 years in positions ranging from project development to independent engineering to owner’s engineering – supporting tens of gigawatts of clean energy across hundreds of projects.
James holds a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and currently serves on the department’s board.
James Vance is the Vice President of Technical Services at Clearway Energy Group where he leads teams that provide critical project and financing support functions, including energy prediction, operational performance analytics, independent engineer engagement, O&M cost estimating, and technology and quality review leadership across solar, wind, battery, and clean-fuel projects.
