Charles Colby

Prior to Clearway, Charles was the Head of Tax and Chief Tax Counsel for Acelity Inc., the leading medical device manufacturer globally for negative pressure wound care, and following 3M’s acquisition of Acelity was Senior Counsel Tax Planning responsible for 3M’s consumer products division.
Before that Charles held both senior in-house roles as a Senior Tax Director at GE Capital, Walmart, eBay/PayPal, and a VP at CIT and service provider roles as a senior associate at Hopkins & Sutter and Skadden and partner at Ernst & Young LLP, he has extensive experience managing tax operations, developing, and executing effective tax strategies, and supporting transactions.
Charles holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Business Arts in Finance and Accounting, summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University.
Charles Colby is the Vice President of Tax for Clearway Energy Group, where he leads the corporate income and indirect tax function for the organization.
