Business Sustainability
Business sustainability focuses on creating long-term value by implementing strategies that account for the environmental, social, and economic impacts of a company’s operations. It encompasses practices that enable the business to prosper while contributing positively to society and minimizing its ecological footprint.
Our Projects & Customers
Clearway is dedicated to developing and operating reliable, cost-effective renewable energy facilities that provide responsibly generated power to our customers while ensuring energy security for the future. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we look forward to playing a leading role in meeting the growing demand for clean, low- or zero-carbon power.
(Re)powering a Clean Energy Future

In February 2024, we were pleased to announce a partial repower of the 55 MW Ocotillo Windpower wind farm in Howard County, Texas.
The repower extended Ocotillo’s expected operational life – and associated lease payments to participating landowners – for ten years. It will also deliver an additional $2 million in property taxes to Howard County over the same period. The wind farm generates enough electricity to power more than 19,000 homes annually.
A portion of the renewable attributes from Ocotillo was purchased on behalf of eight corporate buyers through Ever.green, a marketplace for high-impact renewable energy certificates (RECs). The RECs will go toward supporting Ever.green’s customers in achieving their respective decarbonization goals through REC purchases.
Supporting Corporate Decarbonization Efforts with Texas Solar Nova
In early 2024, we announced the completion of the 452 MW Texas Solar Nova complex in Kent County, Texas.
The project represents a $660 million investment in West Texas and generates enough electricity to power over 190,000 homes annually, in addition to contributing an estimated $5.4 million in property taxes and wages to the local economy in its first year of operations.
Texas Solar Nova was made possible through partnerships with local officials, suppliers, construction partners, and corporate customers including Verizon.
Clearway’s Texas Solar Nova offtake agreements will support Verizon in achieving its target to source the equivalent of fifty percent of its total annual electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2025, and ultimately achieve its goal of net zero emissions in its operations by 2035. These agreements also support Citizen Verizon, the company’s responsible business plan for economic, environmental, and social advancement.
A portion of the renewable attributes from the solar projects will also go toward supporting SKF, Toyota Boshoku America, and Lonza in achieving their respective decarbonization goals through renewable energy certificate (“REC”) purchases.

Clearway’s First Clean Energy Project in the Gem State

In April 2024 we celebrated the start of commercial operations for our first clean energy project in Idaho. The 160 MW Cedar Creek Wind farm is located in Bingham County and will generate enough electricity to power 62,000 homes annually.
Clearway’s 25-year power purchase agreement with PacifiCorp, which does business as Rocky Mountain Power in southeastern Idaho, ensures the delivery of clean energy to PacifiCorp customers and helps advance its sustainability goals.
Clearway’s portfolio with PacifiCorp totals over 840 MW, including 549 MW of solar and wind in Utah, 141 MW of wind in Wyoming, and now 160 MW in Idaho, representing a continuation of Clearway and PacifiCorp’s longstanding relationship.
Victory Pass and Arica Solar + Storage Energy Complex Provides Clean Energy to a Diverse Group of Customers
April 2024 saw the commencement of commercial operations for the Victory Pass and Arica solar and storage projects in Riverside County, California. The projects’ combined capacity of 463 MW solar and 186 MW battery storage will generate enough electricity to power 205,000 homes.
The projects are contracted with a diverse group of customers, all of which share the goal of increasing the sustainability of their operations through the purchase of clean energy.
Victory Pass is contracted with Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) and Central Coast Community Energy (3CE); Arica is contracted with Clean Power Alliance (CPA), Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE), MCE, Southern California Edison (SCE), an affiliate of NRG Energy, Inc., and PepsiCo.

Clearway Delivers First Battery Retrofit Project Providing Reliability in Southern California

In July 2024 we marked the start of commercial operations at the 147 MW Rosamond Central Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Clearway’s first battery retrofit project, in Kern County, California. Rosamond Central BESS comprises 4-hour lithium-ion batteries and is located adjacent to Clearway’s 192 MW Rosamond Central solar farm, which was completed in 2020.
Rosamond Central BESS is contracted with Southern California Edison (SCE) under a long-term resource adequacy agreement. It builds on our existing renewables fleet and natural gas portfolio in the region and provides the grid reliability and resiliency needed to meet growing demand in SCE’s service territory, particularly during times of peak electricity use.
Clearway has partnered with SCE on more than 1.5 GW of renewable projects, including the Alta Wind complex and the Luna Valley solar project, which is expected to achieve commercial operation in 2025.
Cedro Hill Repower Represents $270 Million Investment in South Texas
In December 2024 we completed the repowering of our Cedro Hill wind farm in Webb County, Texas. The repower increased Cedro Hill’s capacity by 10 MW to 160 MW, which will generate enough electricity to power nearly 40,000 homes during peak hours.
Cedro Hill was originally built and commissioned in 2010, with its generated power sold under a long-term power purchase agreement with CPS Energy, the largest municipal electric and gas utility in the nation, serving the city of San Antonio, Texas, and one of the nation’s largest municipal buyers of wind energy.
As part of the repowering, CPS Energy extended its existing agreement to support its commitment to growing its renewable energy portfolio. CPS Energy continues to benefit from 100% of the power generated by the Cedro Hill wind farm.
